INSTALLATION GUIDELINES
1. View specific guidelines and diagram.
2. You are allowed to use your particular medium or stayle within the guidelines and the theme of "veil" and "something hidden." You do not have to use fabric for your veil! Wire, mesh, plastics, found objects, photographs, prints, wood, sculptural materials, paper ... can be used for a "veil." Objects under the "veil" can be built from the floor up.
3. There must be consistency with size and approximate shape of the "veiled forms," with all "veils" hanging from ceiling and equally spaced in 2 rows down the center of the gallery. (View gallery layout.)
4. Use 12"-14" embroidery hoops (or another material) at top of the "veil," and wire for hanging.
5. You must show your installation idea to curators for approval.
6. One or more artists can work on one installation.
7. A STATEMENT about your installation is required.

OTHER ARTWORK
1. Prints, photos, collages, paintings, mixed media, sculpture, ceramics, shirnes, video, etc.
2. No size requirements now, but you must let curators know your ideas so they can plan accordingly. If more work is needed an artist may do more than one piece. (To be determined after a head count.)
3. Must be the veil theme. Variations encouraged.
4. If also doing an installation, you can coordinate the two to have the same message.
5. This art will be arranged along periphery of gallery.

SOUND COMPONENT
See proposal. Need volunteers.

MISC
1. WCA members may do both installation and artwork, or only one, if desired.
2. Need variations on the veil theme - don't want only veil as "oppression." It must be obvious that something is "veiled." See theme below.
3. The gallery director has the right to deny any installation or artwork upon submission.

THEME
1. Veil as part of dress or attire: burkas, belly dancers, wedding veils, nun's veils, veil dancing, men's veils, Ku Klux Klan, shroud.
2. Veil as a curtain: covering, something that conceals, screens, hides.
3. Veil as an abstract idea: figurative idea, as a metaphor, or in withholding information.
4. Veil as a spiritual idea: religious disciplines, Tarot, veiled holy objects, beyond normal waking consciousness.
5. Veil as illusion.
6. Veil as title: Veiled Nebula, Bridal Veil Falls, Dance of the Seven Veils (Salome's/Ishtar's descent to the underworld.) ... poems, essays, books, operas, dances, with veil in the title or theme.
7. Veil in science: veiling luminance, vein like membranes.
8. Veil as the final door: to pass through, near death experiences.
9. Veil in comparison or contradiction: modesty versus erotic, women's veils versus men's veils.
10. Veil used in satirical, comedic, historical, religious, scientific, political, social context.
