WCA Business and Show Information:

April 24th
Broomfield Show Meeting at Zip Gallery, 3644 Navajo Street in Denver, at 10 am. We will go over the timeline. I will have copies of the Artist’s Agreement for everyone to read and sign. Each participant will speak about their artwork for the show. If you are having trouble coming up with an idea to create, this may just give you what you need. Member Darlene Nixon opening at Wild Things Art & Frame at 2401 W. 15th street, suite 170 (On Platte across the street from Shakespeare's), 6-9 pm.

Friday April 2
First Night Gallery Walk on Sante Fe Drive WCA members meet at Chicano Humanities and Arts Council (772 Sante Fe) at 6:30-7:00 pm to start the rounds. Snacks at El Noa Noa (722 Sante Fe) about 8:30.

Saturdays April 3 and May 1 10 am 3 p.m.
Foothills Art Center
Professional Photo Day $5 per Artwork Camera-challenged artists can have their work actually photographed by professionals at Foothills. Foothills is offering this service to artists at a fee less than the cost of a regular studio. Please call in advance to reserve a 45-minute time slot and tell us how many works will be photographed (maximum of five). Along with their artwork, artists need to bring a roll of 35mm 200 ASA film (color, slide, or b/w). Several photos of each work will be taken. After the photo shoot, artists will take roll of film with them to develop as they wish. Foothills Art Center 303-279-3922

Indian cultural and political activist Russell Means speaks on "America Right or Wrong" at the Waring Theater, Arapahoe Community Collage in Littleton. Cost is $5. Reservation required, at 303-797-5767.

I-Goddess Collage Workshop at Crystalline Energy Healing Center in Littleton. Find out about the Goddess in YOU! Through the process of collage making, we will use symbology to explore how we see ourselves as diving beings. Related topics to also be explored are one's life path, a desired transformation or goal to be manifested, and the joys and gratitude felt in life. Men are welcome. Raku Ritual Workshop Join together with a small group of women to create sacred objects using Raku pottery techniques, old journals and other writings to burn away what is past while creating something new and wonderful. Through this process, explore creativity, symbology and your ability to transform. This workshop is fun, meaningful and accessible to all. Discounted fee of $50 for WCA members. OPENING RECEPTION: LINDA EVERSON Arborglyphs and Transformations Dairy Center in Boulder, 5 - 8 pm WCA Co-Pres, Linda will show colorful monoprints of abstracted tree bark markings (Arborglyphs), encompassing a variety of methods: photography, solarplate, collagraph, xerox printing, embossment, some mixed media. Showing with Leah Venae Green. . Directions from Denver: Take US 36 into Boulder. Turn left onto Canyon Blvd, turn right on 26th, and follow to Walnut and 26th (Dairy Center on your left). If you have ideas for activities and listings, forward them to: Nancy Nixon, nantha@thelink.net. Please keep your listings concise so that we don't have to do much editing. For activities that occur close to the beginning of the month, or require reservations/planning way ahead of time, send them in time for the prior (or appropriate) month's calendar. Submissions are due at least 4 days before the beginning of the month. Also, remember that individual members can, at any time, notify the group of art/culture related activities through the Yahoo Groups site.
